lONG SILVERY/BLACK bugs- silverfish?

ds had found a long ish maybe a cm, bug on the kitchen floors that wriggled and slitthered along not crawled on the floor, was black/silver ish. What the hell is it, where did it come from? We have been decorating ie stripping floors/painting. Clean house. Ideas, do i need to worry?
He thought it was a cheeselog but it wasnt.

DH says sounds like a silverfish and if so it's harmless. Never seen one myself though.

a cheeselog?? wtf is that???

deffo sounds like silverfish. we had them in the bathroom of a house I lived in as a student.

can't remember how we got rid of them though, sorry

Silverfish tend to live in damp areas behind tiles in bathroom is a common location. Try drying the area out thoroughly with space heaters then redcorating ensuring that tiled areas are properly grouted and silicon sealed.

It was in the kitchen area which is not damp as far as i know. Was a shock to see it.

Cheeselog is a southern name for a woodlouse as is wriggerly pig
