Should I give all of my children's toys away, or should I keep some for memories?

I'm sick of putting stuff up in the loft to gather dust for years and never to be looked at again but am thinking if I give all my old children's toys to charity, will we miss them in years to come.

Has anyone regretted not keeping them?

I've kept the nicer ones in the loft in my "grandmother box" it will be a long time before I need them but I've seen my parents have to go out and buy stuff when their grandchildren appeared so I thought I'd store stuff like brio etc.

I am keeping some, my parents kept loads of mine which I really appreciate now! Especially stuff that is still expensive now, such as brio train set, playmobil, lego etc.
There is a number peg puzzle that I am keeping for sentimental reasons too, DS adored it and carried the numbers from it around for about a year Grin

So far I haven't missed anything that has gone to the charity shop.

DH's parents kept leggo and other collectable type toys. For years (pre-DC's) I thought they were a bit OTT, carting it from one house to the other when they moved. I'm really glad they kept it all now.

I'll probably keep leggo, brio and possibly playmobile.

ooh, such a good question. DD1 is nearly 6, DD2 is nearly 3. I've kept the classic picture books, and put the others in charity. I've put quite a few of the baby toys to Nearly New sales and charity shop over the last 2 years with no regrets yet. I've kept their baby comforter toy, special teddy and teether. I reckon I'll keep the ELC Happyland, the wooden railway track set, and the wooden garage set. Like others have said, for a grandmother's box rather than sentimental.

I'm going to take photos of the kids playing with all their toys for the sentimental fix - I'm not storing it all.

My parents kept all sorts, books, puzzles and a few toys, I love watching my ds and nieces and nephews playing with them. Definitely going to do the same.

My parents kept all sorts and I love seeing my children playing with my old toys! Obviously they didn't keep tat but things like Fisher Price garage and house, lego, etc. I suppose it depends how much space you have!
