my ordinary microwave above my electric cooker? if so, how much space do I need in between? sick I'd having no worktop space!

I would guess you need the same minimum space as for cupboard. Have o look on those kitchen building apps they usually have a min distance built in. Be careful as it can void warranties on the cooker if you have stuff too close. Those min distances are set out in building regs i think if you want to look up the full guidance
