Spring cleaning ideas needed

I have a week off in April and want to do a bit of a spring clean. What jobs should be on my list and what tips and advice do you have for me to make the best use of my time?

Hmm depends on what you have in your house and what jobs you normally do when not spring cleaning (wiping skirting boards for example).
Things like:
Washing curtains/curtain poles/nets/blinds
Cleaning under beds
Cleaning washing machine
Clean light fittings
Clean doors/door handles

Start from the top of your house and work down, taking each room at a time.

I always wash my mattress protector/quilts (or swap for a lower tog) and replace any pillows, lounge cushions etc that need it.

Think I will try to do one room thoroughly each day or would I be better doing one job each day - eg cleaning windows??

I find it more satisfying to do one room at a time. Once a room is "bottomed" it only needs a few minutes to keep on top of it.

I prefer one room at a time, just because I get bored doing the same thing for too long eg cleaning windows! Plus you can see your results better when a whole room is done at a time, rather than a little here and there all over the house.

I've decided to do a spring cleaning in the beginning of April too. What I usually do is start from the rooms which I usually clean, like the bathroom. Then, the bedroom - changing the bed sheets, changing the draperies, cleaning the closet, etc.

After that work my way down and do the kitchen, the living room and depending on the weather - the backyard. By the way, I have a friend in a window cleaning company in London ( www.shinywindowcleaninglondon.co.uk/ ) and she recommended to clean the windows too, if I have the time. Apparently, spring is the best time to do it, because when it's too warm in the summer you might get streaks.

Looks like one room at a time is the way to go. I am going to try to be as ruthless as possible with everything and clear out as I go. I have been trying to reduce my clothing down over the last year and so will have another sort out. I have lost some weight and most of my trousers are much too big so need to but some new jeans and throw out the old stuff.

Any suggestions on how to manage the outside of upstairs windows??
