Cleaning a humidifier in a hard water area

I've had 2 humidifiers for my toddler DS's room but they've both stopped working due to hard water scale deposits. I did try to clean them but probably not often enough! Hmm

Does anyone know of a quick & easy way to clean the inside of a humidifier to banish those annoying deposits? Either daily, weekly or whenever? Or of a way to reduce the deposits in the first place?

TIA Smile

you could fill them from a Brita jug.

Oh really? That's interesting to know - will it cut down the deposits?

I believe it absorbs the calcium. It does not work the same way as a water softener. I asked Brita once,

Do your humidifiers have a simple wet sponge, or a spray?

They were electric ones which sent out a cool mist, same make & similar model to this

ah, it sprays a mist ultrasonically. Do the makers have any descaling instructions?
