question about steam cleaners

Are steam cleaners worth the money. I seen some that just steam clean and others that also vacuum.

don't have much money so won't be able to buy industrial one, just can't stand using chemicals
around house.

All advice helpful

I used a hand held steam cleaner to do my carpet and wall tiles. I thought is was useless and was glad I only borrowed one rather that payed for my own!

Mmmm!!

Have heard that the hand held one's not strong enough, mainly because can't hold enough water and don't get hot enough.

Thanks for the heads up though.

I have a hand held one (about the size of a kettle) and I would be lost without it.

Have seen a compact steam cleaner at Tchibo think I might get.

I had a cylinder steam cleaner which was good for carpets etc, cleaning the loo/cooker etc
depends on what you are prepared to use if for

get a handheld one before investing in a larger version

I bought a 'Shark' one off one of the TV shopping channels and I think it's great, especially for getting into awkward places like round the hinges of windows/doors

went to buy the Tchibo one but it doesn't clean rugs

Think I might buy the Electrolux or Vax compact one from Argos.
