welcome! I've seen the X5 mentioned on a few threads, just been over reading the mixed reviews on argos - some love it others say it was crap, hard to know what to believe!

I got a vax one through groupon at half the price of aegis etc. They regularly have different brands on there :) love love love mine but haven't really used it on upholstery. Our floors are a combination of wood/ tiles/ laminate so mainly use it for floors. So much quicker and better than the mop!

phantomnamechanger · 16/03/2014 19:35

ah, I had not thought of groupon, I usually delete most of those offers pretty quickly but I will keep my eyes open. Thanks.

There is one on there today, have you seen it?

Jellybellyrbest · 17/03/2014 14:42

I bought a Which Best Buy one made by Abode for £45 just last week. Got it from Tesco Direct. It's really simple to use, super fast & floors are dry almost immediately after use. It's got a detergent tank so it really does clean the floors. The detergent comes with it, but can't be used on all
surfaces so we're using our own ATM.

I have an x5! I love it, it's easy to use, not too heavy and does everything I need it to- steam floors inc manky laminate, cots after they've been vommed on, buggies bought on eBay that look a bit suspicious, high chairs, windows, vertical blinds. It's probably not the most thorough or most industrial but for a quick scrub here and there it's brilliant.

ForTheLoveOfSocks · 19/03/2014 05:04

I've recently bought one from B&M. It's called the Prolex 6 in 1. It essentially has all of the same bits as the x5 (I've also used the x5, as DMIL has one) but it's cheaper at £50.

I've only cleaned the floors and carpets so far, but I really like it

pudseypie · 19/03/2014 07:51

I'm also looking for one that will clean carpets and upholstery as well as tiled floors too! Is there a cheap ish cleaner that does all that?

KMR281 · 19/03/2014 11:45

hi, I got a £25 one from amazon (adobe I think it was) - does floors - hard or carpeted. I decided to get a cheap one, then if it was rubbish or not what I wanted, I haven't lost too much. I totally love it, fabulous on smooth vinyl floors, and laminate (although, I try not to use it on laminate too often, to prevent it warping). Have also used it with the carpet glide and it really lifted an old stain from when ds2 vomited up all his halloween sweets -yurk. Go for cheap first! I now want one that I can use to do windows and other stuff - so a hand-held one.

fedupandfifty · 20/03/2014 07:04

Adobe (abode)? here too, reduced to £22 in Tesco. Haven't used the carpet attachment yet. Love it. I agree on going for cheap first.

stuckindamiddle · 20/03/2014 08:44

Oh I was going to post a new thread asking how to use stream cleaners...
Can I hijack here? My parents have one and have offered to lend it to me. We've got wood and tiled floors downstairs, a rug and carpets upstairs. Dad reckons we can use it on all those and on the sofas, the windows, shower cubicle and tiles? I get that steam will disinfect and deodorise but does it also clean i.e. remove stains from carpet and upholstery etc?
Thanks!

phantomnamechanger · 23/03/2014 19:47

Thanks all, I think I will get something cheap to try it out and see how we go.
