If you employ cleaners etc, do you do so through an agency and do they charge a finding fee?

How did you find your staff, was it through agencies, adverts, word of mouth etc?

There will probably be more questions TIA!!!

Hi MKM - It depends what sort of staff you are looking for - just casual or more permanent - I have done both - got a friend's housekeeper to recommend someone for me - we pay her cash.

Was a lot more formal with the people we hired through an agency - we have to pay NI etc and an agency fee (which was pretty steep, by the way)

cleaners put notice in local post office (I'm in the country though)

nannies either through agency or advertise eg on gumtree if you know what you are doing.

word of mouth never works I don't think - if they are really good people want them for themselves and only recommend if they are either no good or they don't know if they are any good or not, in which case might as well advertise and take your pick

We have a cleaner, who is employed through an agency, and we just pay the agency - and didn't pay a finding fee. Cleaners seem to be like hen's teeth round here, despite being in the middle of the countryside.

Was in London before this, and got my cleaner there by word of mouth.

Cleaner - advert in post office too, another one put a flyer through my door, another one someone I knew who wanted to earn a bit of cash. Always been cash, I have never used an agency.
