Did you ever have to give your house a complete once-over

'cos someone else is staying in it? My mum is, and she, bless her, would probably do it for me. But the fact is her partner's coming, too, which puts a completely different light on the situtation.

Have any of you Oxo cubes and cans of soup that expired in 2002 lurking in your cupboards? And I haven't even started on the bathroom .....

Yes, twice in the last year we have had to go away for a couple of days and leave the DSs in charge of my Mum, Dad and Aunt. Before their arrival I have blitzed my house as I didn't want my Mum to notice something needed attending to and spending her time on that rather than looking after the DSs and having relaxing a bit.

I have the odd out of date thing but tend to clear out my kitchen cupboards every six months so catch most things at those clear outs.

WE blitz our house every few months, as I am a hoarder so I need to be quite ruthless.

When we helped dp mum move we found stuff in her foof cupboards that was decades out of date.

Gosh, MrsS, how on earth does that work? My mum's at complete loggerheads with her sisters, if they're together. Come to think of it, she might be at loggerheads if they're not.

earlgrey, my Mum has three sisters, this is the only one she gets on with.

gave the kitchen a once-over cos the boys were away last week. Thought my cupboards were ok - but kept finding tins at the back from 2004 (and one from 2003)

Clearing out my cupboards is the last thing on my mind at the moment. Too busy with 2 lo's under 3.
If someone was coming to look after the house etc I still wouldn't clear the cupboards out. Nobody's perfect!

I blitz the house four times a year, clear out the cupboards and drawes and wardrobes, and bleach bleach bleach.
I repainted the whole kitchen one weekend when DH and DS1 were away and when they got back they did not even notice.
