What are your carpet tips?

We have inherited a really nasty carpet, that just collects bits and they don't shift with the hoover (dyson). Does anyone have any top tips for removing stuff? It never looks clean.

Take it up and sand the boards, carpets always look grubby, wood mops.

Yep, throw them out. Get floorboards down. They last a life time, are more hygienic and look nicer. They will save you money in the long term.

You need to get a hard brush and brush them - Hoover does nothing :(
