I have hoovered and hoovered and hoovered and the dyson is STILL getting full up with dust every time I do it. I think the house wasn't kept in a good state, is it just layers upon layers of old dust and when will it all end??????

Were the carpets cleaned before you moved in? Every rental house we've had, we've had to get the carpets cleaned when we moved out so they would be clean for the next tenant. Were there tenants in before you? Is it worth getting a quote for cleaning and/or talking to the landlord?

And if you've just moved in, take pictures as evidence to show your LL how filty they are.

I have heard of landlords who used to charge every leaving tenant for professional cleaning and redecoration, and pocket the money. Perhaps those days have gone. Can you contact the previous tenant?

If building work was done there may be a huge amount of gritty dust.
