Recommendations for a vented tumble dryer

Just that really. Can't stand the rain anymore and need to give my radiators a break. What tumble drier (or is is dryer?) would you recommend to go in a slightly damp outhouse?

I am not sure there is a massive choice of vented dryers now anyway, most are condensing and expel the water down the drains, as a washing machine would. If cheap you get less settings so more guesswork in how dry you want the clothes to be at the end of the cycle. More expensive ones are accurate in that you choose how dry/damp you want the washing to be and these do not rely on basic timers. Also look at running costs and size of load. This might affect your purchase.

We just got a hot point one last week only £160 in Currys sale. So far so good! Gets close dried very quickly and not at all noisy.

mine's AEG. very pleased.

for me, Bosch WTV74309GB because I like Bosch and it is a Which best buy, and relatively low priced.

However the AEG T65170AV is also a Which best buy, and is £100 cheaper

With budget brands I worry about reliability and longevity.

If you have a nearby gas supply, and do a lot of drying, White Knight do some excellent gas-heated ones which are inexpensive to buy and extremely cheap to run (because energy from electricity costs three times as much as energy from gas). They do need to be installed and serviced by a suitably qualified gasman.

AFAIK all but the cheapest have sensor drying, which will cut the heat once it reaches your selected dryness.

if there a 6 of you, you may want to get a big one. 7kg capacity is common. Some Miele are 6kg. Some driers are 8kg.

That's the cotton load, synthetics are typically half. It is said that driers work best at about 80% max capacity.
