Hi

have had probs with my washer not emptying after cycle finished. Decided that it may be blocked filter. Unscrewed what i thought was the filter and water came pouring out.

Is this the filter? should it be full of water?

There may be a small amount of water (normally put a baking tray on the floor to catch it - sometimes there is more than others, but never filled more than 3 baking trays!). Can you just bung the thing back in if it is still leaking?

Oh Pecka - poor you. However, you obviously have a life and so don't spend hours pouring over the instruction manual everytime you buy a washing machine. My friend only realised recently that toasters have a pull-out crumb tray underneath them to empty them...when she couldn't get them out by turning it upsidedown she thought it was time to buy a new one . It is the better way of being and so lovely when you find something out like that after years of not knowing - so much more satisfying to clean out five years of gunk anyway!
