Eugh - mouldy stuff in washing machine

Doh! I forgot to take my washing out of the machine before I went away and it's all gone mouldy.

Can I save the clothes at all?

Also I've run a hot wash with the machine empty but it still reeks of mould so how do I get rid of the smell?

Rinse the mouldy clothes in cold water with teatree oil and hang them on the washing line at least 24hrs (even if it rains - they're not going to get worse). Sunshine and fresh air should sort out the fungus and bleach some of the stains. Then sort out any remaining stains later.
Do the washing machine empty again with tea tree oil or white vinegar in the softener drawer at 30-40degrees.

Can I put tea tree oil on colours?

Are they likely to get much worse? Worst case scenario they may fade a little but no more than on a washing line.
