hanging things in the door to keep flies out

does anyone use these? my gran used to have brightly coloured strips hanging from her back door, we used to spend hours plaiting them! anyway, thinking of getting something to keep out the darned insects.... wandering what to get and where to buy it?

we've got a chain link curtain thingy. It's a bit of a pain but it does work and is very robust. Cost £90ish but whenever we've had cheaper solutions they never lasted more than one season. I got ours from newblinds.co.uk

Tchibo recently had some netting you could velcro to the door frame for a few pounds. I haven't got around to putting up mine yet though - haven't found the flies too bad so far. Another tip I have heard is that basil and geranium plants repel insects so you could try putting some on windowsills, next to doors, etc
