Organising kids toys/games

I have 2 DC and half of their toys and general paraphernalia are upstairs and half downstairs. I'd like to have some more organisation to perhaps encourage them to play with things more. Any tips on organising appreciated.

Hello, I have read a lot of thread on here and the two that are recommended are trofast and expedit from Ikea.

I have the expedit and it stores a lot and you can add a desk etc, look at google image when you get a chance.

I have the extra large cream ottoman from argos too,
Would be interested in more ideas.

A few years ago I chucked over half of the kids' toys (especially the annoying stuff from grandma which played "tunes"). What was left I divided into half, with one half available and the other half hidden away in the airing cupbard. Not only was the world much tidier and easier (for the children) to put away, they played with what was available instead of roaming between piles of stuff in a bewildered manner before hassling me for something to do. When grandma visits, she now assumes that treasured-plastic-beeping-shite is tucked away with the other hidden toys.

There was a book (Simplicity Parenting?) which argued for fewer toys for children, and it really did calm everyone down here. Edit heavily before over-organising!

The storage ideas from ikea look good. I also like the idea of putting a box or two away. I know I need to get rid of some things but I'm not great at that!
