Stuff stuck on window, help!

Right I don't know what it's called so I'm going to attempt to describe! Christmas 2012 I bought some stars and a polar bear from Wilkos that you stick you glass and at night it sort of lights up/glows (it absorbs light and remits it I think)
Cue now. I've left them on the window all the time (lazy, moi?) but when I take the stars off there is a thick star shape residue left! It is very sticky and gooey.
I want them off (plus it is a rented flat and we are going to move this year) I have a Flash magic eraser, is it worth trying this? Anyone had any experience with these sticky things?
At least I know not to leave them on the windows ever again!

You can buy this stuff. It's very good.

de-solvit stain remover and pre wash spray removes sticky stuff too and you can get it in the supermarket. Also try wd-40 and/or nail polish remover

Aha, I have nail polish remover! I'll try that first, if not then off to Lakeland. I forgot they sold that.
Polar bear came off with no arguments. The stars though, blurgh, I feel sick now.
