Anyone else surrounded by people with perfect houses and want to join their ranks?

On here I read about people like me who live a bit of a cluttered existence and I read about people much 'worse'.

However in real life everyone's house I visit is immaculate, most have young children too.

I feel like a failure tbh. However today I have started a clear out - 6 bags of toys have bitten the dust.

Anyone with me?

argh if only I could grab the bull by the horns!!! I am in the same boat. I have 3 babies. a small house. a partner whos help is next to none but has the excellent "what have you actually done all day" face down to an art. a tether an inch long and a sky planner full of much better things to do. which room to REstart????

I'm not sure it is normal to have an immaculate house when you have small children. Do they have cleaners and might they have had a massive clean up before you arrived?

wishicouldstopworrying · 15/01/2014 22:00

I'm realistic enough to know that I will never have a perfect home. But I would like not to get that dreadful sinking feeling when I see someone approach my front door unexpectedly! And to know that 'things' do have a place, so that I can put them away in said place. And that I could find items when I come to look for them, instead of having to launch a full-scale search! Ah, dream on!

Glad I'm not alone. Well see part of my problem is that I do want the house to be perfect and kind of feel like what's the point if it can't be?

Yes some of my friends do have cleaners admittedly and they're all a good few years older than me which means they seem to have more money than us but still, my house needs sorting.

So far my living room is totally sorted apart from the shelves which need the photos sorted out and a couple of kids games put away.

The playroom is mostly sorted out I just need to label the boxes.

My next task is the dining room which breeds books and the under stairs cupboard which is full to bursting of Christ only knows what.

So, anyone joining me?

I could have written this post. me and dh going to make a start tomorrow.

BeaWheesht · 17/01/2014 23:48

Good luck cakewitch

I am spurred on by how much easier it is to keep the playroom tidy after decluttering. However, ds came through and asked for a toy I had earmarked for eBay - he hasn't even looked at it in a year! Grrrr

An in my hall is completely empty except for a small pile of post I even cleaned the front door and the paintwork and gave the stairs a good hoovering . DD1 bedroom stripped the bed and chucked 2 huge bags of crap out and whilst I was at work DD2 went in there and rearranged all the furniture and tidied all the book shelves and basket I've just seen it was so pleased with it . Tomorrow. Am doing floors and cleaning windows as well as washing sone if the blinds and taking Ds2 bed down so OH builds him his new one. I need this house to look so much better wont get all the windows and blinds done but will make a good start ..

BeaWheesht · 19/01/2014 12:56

Well done!

Well we've moved all the shoes which cluttered the hall into the decluttered cupboard along with all the big things which had no home like Hoover / mop / ironing board etc. am really pleased.

Next jobs are dining room books, then kitchen but I think ill have to do that a cupboard at a time
