Black mould

BeaWheesht · 13/01/2014 23:15

Behind our kitchen sink some black mould has grown along the join with the Work top and wall.

There's also a wee bit in the grouting on the bath which is black and a weird orange colour. It just keeps returning.

Afaik black mould can be toxic so does anyone know any safe ways I can clean it up? Ideally with some preventative measures so it doesn't keep returning. I've tried all the usual cleaners including bleach.

Thanks

I use bleach and bleach often enough so it doesn't return.

I have a bit black mould in my shower on the silicone every morning I pour bleach on it and I don't rinse until night and it never really goes I used the dettol mould and mildew remover today it was on 5 mins and it was totally goneGrin

I bought some of this:

and was initially disappointed as the speckles of black mould which had permeated under the silicon trim seemed unaffected so I just left the stuff on and intended to take the bottle back to Lakeland. However a couple of days later all black had gone as the liquid must have seeped gradually in. I am now convinced it is a good little product.

make a paste with bicarbonate of soda and bleach and scrub it on the orangey black bits of grout. I use an old toothbrush . It works brilliantly takes the grout back to white :)
