Got a Hotpoint washing machine - had it for a few years.
I did a wash yesterday and the things came out not as spun as I would have expected.
When doing another wash later in the day, I noticed that the glass on the inside of the door was scraped - a long scratch on one side and a graze-like scrape on the other side - neither particularly deep, but obviously scratched.
I wiped over both with tissue and no little bits of glass were coming off.
I am suspecting that maybe on the earlier spin cycle, something dodgy must have happened with the drum perhaps getting out of kilter and getting stuck, which would explain the scrapes and the laundry being wetter than usual when I took it out.
I'm wondering if I need to replace the glass. I'm feeling a bit paranoid about (a) getting glass on my clothes and (b) the strength of the glass bit being compromised. I am a bit of a nervous person though - so don't know if I'm just being paranoid.
I can't find replacement glass for my exact model of washing machine (I think it might be a bit old). It would probably cost £50 to replace, and if the drum were to play up again, I don't know how long it would be pristine for!
In the meantime I have laundry backing up that I really want to wash tonight, but can't decide if the machine is safe to use...
What do you reckon?
