How do I clean a hoover?

I have a very vigorous little 1500w pet hoover, but it's getting clogged up. What's the process for cleaning the pipes and filters, and anything else I haven't thought of?

It will be a rank yuk of a job so any tips you have on minimising the dustiness would be super useful.

do it outside!! don't forget the filters, they can be changed, Check what spare parts are available. it may be time for new ones!

Change bag and filter area near where bag hole is. If it's a Miele, fit new filter.
Clean all the tools, like the upholstery brush, big brush, crevice nozzle and so on.
Wipe down the outside.

BTW if it is Miele they completely overhaul it for £75 including collection and delivery. It comes back like new.

I stand mine on the draining board (motor end upward) and use a small paintbrush moistened with warm water and WUL to clean the inside of the cavity. Obviously no water must get into the electrical parts or bearings.

Take out all filters (there may be about three, see the instructions) and wash in warm water and WUL, set to drain and dry flat. You can buy new filters so you have enough to put a clean one in each time you change the bag. You can wash filters several times before they get tatty.

The plastic tools and hose you can slosh about in the sink. Hand the hose up to dry and put the tools on the drainer, turn them often in case water has pooled inside.
