Is my glass hob ruined?

I haven't used brillo pads or the like, but it has a patch of white that looks like the surface has rubbed off brand new in August so not wear and tear. Doh!

Also how do I clean the chrome on the extractor hood?

No idea on the hob (sorry!) but if the chrome on the hood is greasy then soda crystals in warm water will cut through very easily to clean. To shine/buff, use baby oil. Method Steel for Real also works very well but baby oil is cheaper!

Have you tried hob brite? It seems to work on really well....

I have hob brite - I suspect that the white scratchy bit was a result of using it though

If the hood does actually extract, and is not a useless recirculating hood, it, and the rest of the kitchen, will stay cleaner if you keep it running while cooking. The low speed will be quieter, but turn it up for frying or roasting because of the hot fat.

Yep, I do that too. Just seems whenever I wipe the chrome it leaves it looking, well, wiped

Could it be something burnt on? I had white marks on a ceramic hob when I moved into a new house, turned out to be just burnt on spills.

A razor blade will scrape them off, or Lakeland sell a tool to do it (basically blades in a plastic holder)

I use an e cloth for my chrome cooker hood. It makes it Shiney without leaving water marks. It's great for granite work tops too.

I hate my glass hob, btw. It marks so easily.
