Rubber tiles in kitchen - always look filthy - help!

When we got our kitchen/dining/living area done a few years back in a fit of madness had hideously expensive dalsouple rubber tiles put in - god knows what possessed me but we chose pistachio and cream chequerboard squares. I can't tell you how lovely they looked (for all of about 5 minutes) but after the first few months they started to look more and more grubby - they show every mark and despite regular mopping my floor constantly looks filthy. Things aren't helped by having 3 dc, 2 cats, a puppy and a DH who's constantly cleaning his sodding bike in there.

There is a man who'll come round and clean the tiles at vast expense but it's not feasible on a regular basis cos it's too expensive and he insists on the room being completely clear

Any ideas to help me make my tiles look slightly less depressing?

I've never heard of rubber flooring! But I've got white vinyl in my kitchen and it's the Bain of my life it's got little grooves in it as it's wood effect and the mop just doesn't clean it properly!! So I have to get on my hands and knees and scrub with a scourer and bleach! That may not work for you as it may scratch the floorHmm

I've got grey dalsouple tiles in my kitchen, the ones with the raised circles on. They are a nightmare, I hate them. A steam mop works fairly well but honestly the only way to get them uniformly clean with no grime stuck round the edge of the circle is hands and knees with a scrubbing brush and some Jif. Very 1950s housewife.

oh god ... I was hoping there'd be some magic solution - our kitchen area is a huge, open-plan space - hands and knees scrubbing will take forever ... sigh...

thanks anyway for suggestions ...
