My DH has agreed that he will from now on take sandwiches to work instead of a proper meal to reheat (we're on an economy drive due to me being on maternity leave). I have a bread maker a bake fresh multiseeded, sun dried tomato & Parmesan, and cheddar and cheese bread but am stuck on the fillings as I'm not a 'sandwich' person.
I've got the obvious ones like....
Ham & mustard
Tuna mayo & red onion
Egg & cress
Cheese &pickle

And even humous, red pepper, grated carrot and baby spinach (my current favourite!!!) but in desperate need of some ideas to keep husband happy with sandwiches Grin

Ham and turkey
Corned beef and pickle.
Curried egg mayo
Coronation chicken.

The first two can be made in advance and frozen.

pastrami and tomato

Thanks fluffy.... When you say made in advance and frozen do you mean cook your own turkey/ham (or any other meat in that case) slice and freeze the. Get put the day before in portions for the sandwiches?? That's a bloody brilliant idea!! Especially with leftover roast meats?

I've got salami in the fridge, what does that go with?

No, make the sandwich (no mayo though as it might seperate) wrap it up and chuck it in the freezer until the day you need it.

Meat and cheese with pickle/chutney or mustard freeze well, I've not tried fish.

Really???? Amazzzzzing!!! Going to try that when the bread is going off!!!

Smoked mackerel
Chicken
salami
Smoked salmon (those 'value' 99p packs of off cuts)
Avocado mashed with lemon and black pepper
tinned sardines
Peanut butter and cucumber
Cheese and marmite
Cream cheese with whatever

It is easy to spend quite a lot on sandwiches. Will he really require anything complicated and something different all the time?

Loving the suggestions thanks

I don't use tomato in delayed or frozen sandwiches, think you've covered most but sometimes the old-fashioned sandwich spread can make a change from mayo etc., plus using crackers wrapped in foil with pot of dip or lumps of cheese.
