Urgh. Where do you start? The bins are all full and there are piles of plastic and paper to find a temporary home for. Bits of toys everywhere, tables full of greasy pots, too many leftovers to fit in the fridge...

Is everyone all tidy already? Tell me I'm not alone?

You are not alone.

We have guests arriving tomorrow. House looks like a toy shop exploded. I must spend this afternoon tidying and cleaning. Can't find the energy...

madmomma · 26/12/2013 10:49

I know - that's the problem isn't it? Christmas takes so much energy to organise and then boxing day you just want to sit. I don't envy you having guests today. Sounds like extensive delegation is called for...

I'm doing mine tomorrow. No guests, nowhere we have to be, only me and the kids and the dog. I plan to wake up full of energy and blitz the lot! Oh and get the kids to help Smile

Weelady77 · 26/12/2013 23:01

I'm doing it tomorrow too, I've just emptied all bins and put recycling out so at least that's out the way, my living room is currently been taking over with lego so going to ikea tomorrow night to solve that problem!!

Bakerof3pudsxx · 27/12/2013 06:39

I spent all day yesterday trying to sort the house out

It's still a tip

WhispersOfWickedness · 27/12/2013 06:45

House is not too awful, so we are spending all day chilling out today. Then I'm going to tackle it properly tomorrow. My main problem is the bin collection day this week changed (from Christmas Eve to Monday) so we missed it as I didn't think to check since it wasn't a bank holiday, so now we are drowning in rubbish Sad

EwanHoozami · 27/12/2013 06:47

It's the little fiddly bits that have no obvious home that are doing my head in.

I've got to tidy today because we've got to pack up and move house at the weekend

reddaisy · 27/12/2013 11:07

Just sent DH on a tip run with our pre and post Christmas rubbish. It is really terrible how much extra waste each household produces Sad

kansasmum · 27/12/2013 14:53

It was bin day here today- I put 3(oh the shame!) black bin bags out along with the bin:( I actually haven't dared look to see if they've taken them all! I put all the Xmas paper in the green bin so that's now completely full and isn't emptied for a week!

The recycling boxes are overflowing and I had to find another box to put the plastic and cartons in that we have to drive to recycling skip things in next village!

purrforamincepie · 27/12/2013 14:59

I sorted out the living room and half the dining room last night, and I'm on my third load of laundry. I even hoovered this morning. What I need to figure out is how to get a toy storage 'system' that looks good, lots of people have recommended ikea. I'd rather find a permanent home for the new arrivals than do my usual of putting them all in a tidy heap in a cupboard :(

catwithflowers · 27/12/2013 15:03

Feeling pretty smug now! All rubbish put out (into a neighbours bin who is on holiday! Mine is full), hoovered throughout house, 3 loads of washing, two hung up to dry, polished, thrown away Christmas cards (they drive me nuts and no one will know Blush), walked dog on the beach in gale force winds which is good as I want to lose a few post Christmas pounds, and been shopping for bread, milk etc.

Oh and also found a fab Boden skirt in a charity shop for £3.50 so feeling smug and Bargaintastic Xmas Grin

Aethelfleda · 27/12/2013 18:07

I have started the tidy-up.... Baby steps!

WhispersOfWickedness · 27/12/2013 19:38

I am going to start again with flylady on the 1st. I did well with her in 2012, not really sure what happened in 2013 though Confused
