What's wrong with my Hoover?

We bought a dyson (dc23) four years ago and for the last year or so, everytime we Hoover the house, the air smells and feels horribly dusty to the point that I feel I can't breathe with a mild reaction. We repeatedly wash the filter but to no avail. Life has been hectic to say the least which is why we haven't dealt with it yet Blush Hmm.

Is it time to buy a new one? Do all dysons become like that after a couple of years?

What Hoover under £100 can I buy that will serve us better in the long run? Tia

I could recommend my Henry.

Silverfrock · 22/12/2013 11:09

Lettuce, any Henry? Are there different models? Thanks.

The red one. I dumped my Dyson years ago. You can get a smell after a time with a Henry but I put a little fragrance on a piece of kitchen roll inside the bag and it takes the smell away.

Have you washed all the filters ,most have more than one so perhaps there is one you've missed. Eventually the filters do need replacing . That said I can recommend Morphy Richards uprights ,they vary in price but are under £150 generally and are fantastic ,much better than Dysons ( I have a vacuum collection )

Floral, really? The MR sounds good as its upright. I have to steep lights of stairs to vacuum so that would be good. Which mr model?

Two staircases to vacuum.

Have you washed your filters? I hadn't washed mine in a while (maybe over a year) I washed them let it dry over night on the radiator and next day put it back in, I also washed the tube thing that dust collects in put it all back together and it was like a brand new Hoover suction was fabby Smile

Silverfrock · 22/12/2013 12:28

Wee, ok I need to check the tube thingy then......

Imnotaslimjim · 22/12/2013 15:12

Have a s earch on youtube for "service (you model) dyson" there is loads of videos on how to do it, and they come out like new hoovers. You may need a triangle tip or tri-wing screwdriver though, so be sure to look into what one you need before starting

have you got a dog?
