dogs claws scratched wooden dining table ?

is there anything i can do. just noticed them all catching the sunlight.....really peed off.

get rid of the dog (only half joking).
is it soft or hardwood? oiled or varnished?
if soft I would put wet kitchen roll over the scratches (damp wood expands) and after drying put some oil on it to protect the wood. ordinary kitchen oil will do.

think it is varnished hardwood....
