would you recommend?
We need to replace our ancient one and are considering our options.
Would you advise :
a) bog standard
b) microwave with grill function
c) microwave with grill and oven function? - or would we just be paying for a gadget with functions that we never use?

I'd be interested to hear your views.
Thank you.

What will you be using it for??
I only use mine for quickly heating something and my sons weetabix every morning so I only bought a cheap tesco one

I like a big one with convection. Mostly only use it for warming plates so it was rather an extravagance, though it will do cheese on toast or pizza.

Beware of the smallness of some.

I use my current one as you use yours Weelady but it only has that function anyway ie. warming or re-heating things plus de-frosting.
I wondered if the grill function would be of use in cooking maybe 1 steak and would the oven function be useful for heating pastry things (eg. sausage rolls) that usually go soggy if just microwaved.
Would it be more economical to use it rather than paying to heat an oven just to warm 2 sausage rolls?

being smaller, it warms up quicker so is more convenient. I doubt an oven costs 10p an hour to run once it is hot, so energy savings alone are not enough to justify spend on an extra oven.

combi ovens also have programmes to micro/bake some foods faster than an ordinary oven.
