Didn't think much of it, just flushed, but it took a few flushes to disappear (over the course of a day as others went to the loo) and has left the most awful stain. It was a pinkish coloured pill but has left a distinctly poo coloured stain! Any tips on how to re-whiten much appreciated please ladies!

Give it a good scrub with a cloth/brush?

Scoop the water out of the loo, then squirt bleach down and leave overnight? Also if bleach doesnt work coca Cola left over night might shift it. Its very good at lifting stains.

have you tried a couple of denture-cleaning tablets and hot tap (not boiling) water?

PigletJohn · 14/12/2013 08:27

p.s.

were they multivitamins with iron? Were they the sort you swallow whole with water, or the sort you chew or dissolve?

Turry · 14/12/2013 22:15

Tried scrubbing to no avail, will try the other ideas. Piglet, yes they have iron in them, sort you swallow whole...

Cola down the loo shifts most stains, got my loo lovely and clean again.

Pumice stone? If it's stained the limescale scraping it off might work (pumice is softer than ceramic so won't scratch it, just remove the scale.)

Then I think it will be an iron (rust) stain. Bleach will not help and it will have stained the glaze. Go to a motorists toyshop such as Halfordd and get a small plastic bottle of Jenolite liquid rust remover, which is acid. Do not get other rust treatments, as others mostly work by turning the rust into a hard black layer. Swoosh out all the water from the trap with your brush and dry off with kitchen roll. Wearing plastic gloves, wet a bit of kitchen roll with the acid and lie it on the stain. Leave it for an hour to soak in. Drip more acid on if the roll dries out before the stain is gone.

Have warm water in the baisin to sponge off any acid splashes from your skin or clothes immediately. Eye protection is recommended.

For the cola down the loo tip, do you just pour a can in and leave?
