Does anyone remember my 6 months of hideousness getting my new kitchen put in? Do you want to see it?

It does look lovely and is nearly worth the month of no heating and no hot water. Nearly....

Whoa. That is one modern kitchen. Glad you are happy with it. Enjoy.

MoreBeta · 13/12/2013 21:41

Good grief Pagwatch!

You bought a kitchen from a shop in Wigmore Street!

Its a really rather gorgeous kitchen mind you.

I used to work in Wigmore Street around all those kitchen shops and I swear I never saw any real people actually go in them.

You still had 6 months of hell. Surely not?

QuintessentialShadows · 13/12/2013 21:42

I think I will hire PigletJohn to make me an identical one (for my pokey little house) for a fraction of the cost..... Wink

babbi · 13/12/2013 22:00

That is gorgeous... I wish you many happy hours cooking for your family in it................

Ikeameatballs · 13/12/2013 22:04

I love it, especially the blue!

Pagwatch · 14/12/2013 07:45

Yy the extractor fan is really efficient . It has 3 different settings from breeze to jet taking off.

The 6 months of hideousness was mostly because our boiler had to be moved from the basement up next to the utility room. We had the system checked prior to the work and the boiler was condemned ( in spite of being about 4 years old) so we couldn't use it. We either had to get a new boiler installed for a couple of months and then another new one installed upstairs or manage without. 'Oh, we'll manage without' we said 'its nearly spring, how bad can it be?
Coldest March on record!

Then, just as flooring and main cabinetry installed , man came to connect the hob. Couldn't connect the job as there was a gas leak AND they couldn't trace it. They came very close to pulling up all the new floor through the kitchen and the hallway . Eventually took out some of the ceiling in my basement and got at the leak that way.

Those were just the highlights . I had bar stools lost in the Mediterranean for 3 months, workman who put hot kettle marks on my brand new dining table, a plumber who fell out with the builder and held my hot water to random , builders who let my dogs out on to the road etcetcetc....
Months of it.

The only people who were endlessly brilliant were the actual kitchen company. They are fab.

Haha.
I bet the shoppers in Wigmore street never have hell. They pay people to do that for them.
I was in the Guildford branch. We still get bits of shite Xmas Grin

Ooh paggy it's stunning, really gorgeous! I love that hob in the middle, I also spend hours staring at a splashback.

I am hoping to redo my kitchen in a year or so (new build, lovely spacious bedrooms but dreadful kitchen), I'm going to nick your picture for a pinterest board.

3rdnparty · 14/12/2013 08:01

Your kitchen is beautiful SmileEnvy do you have the dimensions?am just starting to plan extension and wondering if could do the island ..really like the idea of talking whilst cooking.....that company has some lovely ideas on their site....going to completely ignore the 6m hassle ....Wink Wink

darksparrow · 14/12/2013 08:07

Your layout is almost identical to mine which is going in my new extension. I would love to know more about the extractor unit as im struggling to get something I like for my island hob. Does it vent externally? Is it silent and who made it - to ge precise!!

Lovely kitchen - bet it looks fab on sunny day

WireCatGlitteryBaubles · 14/12/2013 08:08

It's lovely.

You should get it featured in one of those Home magazines.

The actual job sounds like hell but the outcome looks worth it!

CatAmongThePigeons · 14/12/2013 08:50

It is gorgeous! The style is exactly what I'd love, sadly, it wouldn't lend itself to our galley kitchen.

CestelloAnnunciation · 14/12/2013 08:55

Ah its absolutely gorgeous! Well done.

chimchar · 14/12/2013 09:08
