A riveting question about the vax steam mop

I apologise for a very dull question, but can I use supermarket own brand/flash etc liquid detergent in my steam mop instead of the Vax own brand stuff?

It's such a rip off, so if I can I'd rather use cheaper stuff!

Do you need to add detergent? I had a vax steam mop and just used water, before sending it back as it was so heavy!

It has a detergent part on it, swell as a water part. I don't know if I could just use water? It would definitely be cheaper!
