Dyson spares - do you only buy branded?

I want to replace the hepa filter on the Dyson. Dyson replacement filter is £25, another non branded, but compatible one is £10.25 - has anyone else put a non Dyson filter in their Dyson and did it work just as well, or is it wise just to fork out on the Dyson one?

Thanks in advance!

We bought a replacement filter from eBay and it worked perfectly :-)

Brilliant - thanks for response :) will try the cheaper alternative!

I bought a replacement hose for my Dyson. I debated over whether to go for the cheaper option but in the end ordered the proper part from Dyson. It broke after about 9 months and I contacted Dyson and gave them the original order number which I still had on an email and they sent a replacement part out which was great.

Obviously, the if I'd got a cheaper hose it might not have broken but if it had I don't think I'd have got it replaced for free.

If your dyson is under 5 years old then call them and they will send you replacement parts for free. I had a new hose and a new ball cover bit from them.

mrsPnut really? Do you not have to have extended warranty or something like that? I also need to get a new brush for the main attachment so may look into that.

patches that is really good customer service, I know I wouldn't get that if I bought non branded..... I think with the attachments I wouldn't buy non branded but am going to give the cheaper filter a whirl :)

5 years is their standard warranty.

Blimey - will definitely follow that up then :)
