Selotape

Might not work if it's really rubbed in.

do not put water on it as this fuses it to the fabric. It is similar to photocopy toner. Brush off the worst and use any stain remover pre-wash as a precaution. I have managed to get the stain out after dry brushing it off and putting in a hot biological wash before now but that was quite a small patch.

I had this all over the reverse side of my cream curtains. I bought one of those sticky roller clothes brushes (99p from H&M) and it worked a treat. I was stunned.

And hang it in the sun to dry

Thanks for all the replies. I managed to get the stain out by washing it in the machine on the intensive stain programme with prewash (which has never been used before and I didn't realise the machine would do that ) and putting twice the recommended dose of oxyclean! Was a bit dubious but it worked a treat
