Vomit on carpet (sorry!)

My DC vomited a LOT! on the carpet last night. It's horribly strong smelling. First I used an ecover clothes washing liquid as I don't have carpet cleaner at home. Only recently got their room carpeted and mostly wooden floors at ours! What do I do/ buy? What do you all use for this? I think the room still smells. How do you get all the vomit out of it? Thanks!

Thick layer of bicarbonate of soda on the stain, leave for 24 hours, clean up. I did this in my car after ds threw up All Over It the first day we had it. It was like it never happened.

Ds1 was sick a lot . Even a carpet shampooer won't get the smell out completely . I used febreze fabric freshener . You will need to use it frequently . The smell will go eventually .Grin The good thing about a shampooer is it will suck up the lumps and liquid.

Yes, bicarb, it's magic

I use it wet though - make a thin paste with water, rub in gently, let dry & hoover out. It leaves NO SMELL. Smile
