Help! Red wine on new carpet!

Salt? Lots of websites say salt. Will it set the stain though?

Have blotted and blotted. I think it's pretty much gone but I'm tempted to try salt?

I had a similar problem yesterday. (D)h managed to drop a complete opened jar of Doritos on my carpet. Spattered everywhere. I have a steam cleaner with a carpet glider attachment, so after picking up pieces of Doritos sauce I used this, then vanish clothes cleaner.

Woke up this morning to a completely clean carpet, so dh is safe again!!!

My carpet is a wool mix, smelt a bit sheepy last night,but ok now.

Same thing happened to my friend last week bottle of red wine on her cream carpet and she poured white wine on top and it came out! But don't know if you have to do it immediately

Salt stained our old carpet when we tried it. Seems a bit risky to me. Would try wetter stain removers - water/ vanish etc etc
