Just given our loo a clean and it occurred to me I've always done it the same way. Namely I put bleach all around, then scrub with the brush, then spray the outside bits and the seat, etc, then wipe over with tissue paper which I then flush, then I push all the water at the bottom down the u-bend and then add another dose of bleach and then I prop the brush handle under the toilet seat and it balances there over the toilet bowl so it can drip iykwim. I only ask because I'm getting the feeling I put far too much thought and effort into this grime chore so just wondered what everyone else does. I used to be such a party girl and here I am on a Friday night intrigued about toilet cleaning lol.

Some people on MN despise loo brushes...

I don't but nor do I use one.

Harpic limescale tablets. Pop one in the loo overnight. Removes limescale and therefore the marks.
Use a domestos wipe over handle first then seat and rim and throw (not flush).

When I remember.

Is this every Friday? Bet you'd have a hygienic penis beaker. Grin

Pour bleach around bowl, spray antibac over everything else. Wipe antibac spray off with kitchen roll (then bin it, not flush). Scrub inside bowl with loo brush (cheap ikea one replaced every six months or so). Flush toilet and hold brush in running water to rinse, bang it on the edge a few times to get excess water off. Incidentally, we have recently returned to the 'pour bleach over poo stains and they disappear on their own' school of toilet cleaning and it has definitely improved the look of things around here (small person bottoms seem to get poo all over the bowl, bleurgh)

toilet cleaner in the bowl. (never just bleach as very hard water)
then wash lid, seat, outside bowl, floor with hot soapy water.
brush inside the bowl (yes with a loo brush, I'm not getting my hands in there), flush, wipe away any droplets.
once or twice a week depending if it needs cleaning.

Bleach, brush, flush, spray, wipe......same as everyone wise, I guess.

JRmumma · 01/12/2013 08:54

I put toilet cleaner round the underneath of the rim and make sure all of the bowl is covered, then leave while i clean the rest of the bathroom or go away and do something else for 20 minutes. Then scrub bowl with brush and flush and rinse the brush in the flush water and put into its holder tub with a bit of bleach and water. Then i scrub the seat and rest of the toilet etc with a bathroom scourer and stardrops, rinse and dry with kitchen roll. Then i pour bleach water from toilet brush down the toilet and flush away. Then i wash the scourer and cloth i used to clean the toilet in very hot water and dry on the towel rail.
