Is ikea bedding any good (ignoring the size issues)

I'm hunting for reasonably priced white bed linen, it also needs to have matching standard pillowcases (not oxford ones).

Ikea have some possibilities.

So, ignoring the sizing issues... Are they any good or does the cheap price reflect the quality?

Thanks! :)

I've found them to be fine, wash well and quality is great. I have it for DDs bed and for mine. I like a lot of the patterns, too.

Very good quality for the price and lot of choice. (the very cheap range is well very cheaply made too)

PottyLotty · 29/11/2013 16:46

Its great for giving you 'the look' of posh bedding without it actually costing too much. Definately spend more if you can. The 'lower priced' stuff is fine for 5-6 washes then starts to look tired/grey whereas spending a little bit more gets you a better quality that lasts longer.

I love their throws, fantastic value for money and look amazing on the beds Grin

It's fine. It may not be 400 count Egyptian cotton but at least it isn't 50/50 either!

mousmous · 29/11/2013 16:48

very good.
sizing is close-enough-but-not-quite english size, so not really an issue.

--their duvets and pillows are also very good btw.

SprinkleLiberally · 29/11/2013 16:49

I find it excellent. Especially the 30 quid stuff not the 15. 100% cotton.

Moomoomie · 29/11/2013 16:51

Another vote here. We have had a lot of Ikea bed linen over the years. When we first brought our super king size bed Ikea was one of the only places that sold reasonable priced linen to fit.

RescueCack · 29/11/2013 16:51

Our ikea stuff is the same age but looks a lot better than some ridiculously expensive stuff we got for a wedding gift 8 yrs ago. I am really impressed by it. I want new ones though because I'm bored...

Suddengeekgirl · 29/11/2013 16:57

I've been looking at the £30+ stuff. All 100% cotton with a 200ish thread count.

I wanted fancy stuff but dh either vetoes the cost (fair enough) or the oxford pillowcases they seem to have.

The double duvet covers appear to be standard sized but the pillowcases are a bit long. I might justify new pillows if we get cheaper stuff perhaps...

We still have duvet set that is 10yrs old from Ikea. Not even the cat has managed to have a sneaky nap on the bed and shred it with his claws.

Sleepyfergus · 30/11/2013 16:10

The mid-high end prices stuff is great. I would avoid the cheaper ranges as they really look very tired and shabby quite quickly.

One of very favourite duvet covers is from ikea. I wish I'd bought more than 1 set at the time now

Mrscupcake23 · 30/11/2013 18:52

I hate ikea bedding the fasteners all broke you get what you pay for.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 30/11/2013 18:56

We have a gorgeous dusky yellow rose print set from Ikea which looks much more expensive and older than it is. I did have a 'no floral' rule up until I saw it!

I think the quality is fine but then I can't afford the posh stuff anyway.

coffeeinbed · 30/11/2013 18:57

Another vote for them.

Cremolafoam · 30/11/2013 18:58

If it's 100% cotton it's great but beware that it will look forever crumpled unless you iron it after washing. Grin

Alwayscheerful · 03/12/2013 20:08

I find it looks good but doesn't wear well or improve with age, pay a little more for a finer weave and your linen will get smoother over time.

20 years ago Laura Ashley bed linen would become very smooth after a couple of years but it it now very coarse.

I like Designers Guild bed linen but I think they stock several different qualities.

lauraspage · 30/05/2019 07:40

Ikea is good. But people should try other brands as well. Recently i brought my bedding products from dusk.com and believe me those products are really awesome. Luxurious products in affordable prices.
