I'd say a mild washing up liquid and warm water solution and a soft cloth should shift the sticky grease.

I wash out our drinking horns with washing liquid and its never harmed them. use a soft cloth to buff em up.

you can clean ivory piano keys with meths diluted in warm water - and piano keys get very sticky in houseful of children!

Ivory is a sort of horn isn't it?
