Anyone had a similar problem?

Can we fix it or is it time to say goodbye?

Yes. You probably need the carbon blades (or something like that) replaced. We had the same thing and once they were replaced it was as good as new - this was when it was about 4 years old

CaurnieBred · 24/11/2013 18:06

Just Googled: it is carbon brushes not blades

Sounds like dead brushes. Replaceable - not cheap but a lot cheaper than a new machine.

Hmm...

Anyone know how much brushes would cost to replace?

It's about 11.5 years old. Gut feeling is to flog it on Fleabay for spares/repairs and get a new one.

Yes they are cheap to buy (just £2 or £3 on amazon) it's having them fitted that costs - I was going to do my own but it was more tricky that I anticipated. The repair cost me £65 including brushes and it has been working fine since they were replaced 18 months ago and my machine is 9 years old now and used a lot.

I paid about 60-70 quid for replacement as well. You'll get a few years out of each new set.

whereiseveryone · 24/11/2013 18:23

We've just found a few videos on Youtube showing how to replace them so DH is going to give it a go. He's quite technical so fingers crossed!

Thanks everyone Smile

could be the filter as well, you could get him to look at it while hes having a fixing moment

Tiptops · 27/11/2013 17:39

Our washing machine doesn't spin when the filter is blocked. Really easy to just undo it and remove any lint.

Mumof3girlys · 27/11/2013 21:40

Could also be the heat element, mine went few weeks ago just keep stopping and not doing the spin/drain part of the cycle because it wasn't getting to the right temp to complete the wash cycle

Alwayscheerful · 27/11/2013 22:26

Before checking out the above ensure no little fingers have not pressed "delay spin" button or similar, to minimise creasing.
