School paperwork everywhere - how do you keep yours tidy?

DS is 6 and brings home letters it seems every day from school. Many of them are reminders so I feel I need to display them or I'll forget.
He also brings home homework, books and bits of paper from the day's lesson to show me.
Dd goes to childminder and comed home with some lovely creations.
My small house is becoming overrun with paper, books, etc and it's in a mess. My kitchen is too small for a memo board and I'm thinking would it look odd having one in the living room?

Please tell me what you do as the clutter is awful and I can never find what I'm looking for!

Do you have a smart phone? I log all important information and dates in my reminders and set an alarm for when I need to know eg pay £2 tomorrow for school Christmas dinner. It means I can throw away the letters he brings home.

For creative things your dc bring home could you get a nice plastic box with lid (sainsburys had them) and keep all the lovely stuff in there? The rest (ssh) chuck Wink

We have two clipboards (the kind with a clip at the top) for letters, one for each child. That way we don't lose anything. DD has a 'washing line' type affair in her bedroom that artwork goes to once it has left the fridge door.

Hama bead creations always end up in the kitchen drawer...

Concertina file for school letters - file and action. Urgent stuff is put on notice board on kitchen, artwork displayed on kitchen cupboards or in ds's room.

Diary dates put in my and dh's diary as soon as they come home from school.

Take photos of big pictures and 3D creations. Keep the photos, chuck the creations after a couple of days on display.

A plastic document wallet in kitchen, plus dates on wall calendar and iPhone.

Artwork blu tacked onto kitchen door.

It's amazing how much paperwork there is, plus all the homework and daily spellings, Maths etc

DS's notes come pre-stuck in an exercise book from school. then i can write notes back to the teacher / TA. (V organised french school)

Could you keep a book for each child and then you can refer back.

Clip boards here too for school letters etc, slotted into a magazine box file. Drawer for homework book, spelling tests, pencils etc.

Phone reminders for due dates so I actually look at said clipboards.

Train yourself not to get emotionally attached to their art creations, else you'll drown in it.

I like the 'washing line' idea shockers - have you just made it with a it of string, or is it something you bought?
