How do you keep boots tidy in hallway?

I am looking at storage options for my small hallway. One of the biggest clutter items are the shoes & my winter boots. I have 3-4 pairs of winter boots that I wear often so don't want to store them upstairs as in this weather they often get wet or a bit dirty. I'm looking to get a shoe rack but this won't help keep the boots tidy will it as they will just flop in half or fall over!

How do you store your boots that are in use if you don't have much space?

I have built in cupboards and shoes and boots are stored in big baskets in them.

We don't...

Baskets from ikea.

I keep the clips that they display boots with, the kind that hang up. I then just clip the boots together when I take them off. We are having our understair cupboard refitted, so I am thinking of having a rail put in for boot hanging.

I also use these if the boots don't come with a clip.

Ah I love the boot clip idea, hadn't thought of that, thanks.

I drive OH mad with all the shoes in the hallway. I did see a picture once of a drawer that comes out of one of your stairs to store all your shoes in. I think OH is thinking how he could make one...
