Is anyone else really affected by the chaos?

I just cant get organised no matter how hard I try and it brings me REALLY down sometimes like today

Sorry - was doing other things at the time, but needed to join in

I have never mastered "the house". Give me a proper job (not that SAHM isn't a proper job but ykwim) and I have slightly ocd organising tendencies... stick me in my own home, and it is a nightmare.

Take this weekend for example - my mum had DD most of both days so that we could get the place ready for a landlord inspection. We still have a small mountain of clean washing for me to fold and put away too.

I blame books. I would get a whole lot more done if there was less to read

Be ruthless on clutter. Ruthless!

yep, I should be tidying my tip up, and trying to pack/clean more of our stuff away but BD's coming down and I just cna't be arsed - poor bloke the spare room's like a bomb site! lol

What do you do with all the cr*p that people have given you as gifts though??? I have a few bits that I love, but other than that they are just kept because I feel mean throwing them out.

I've got to get to Ikea for storage, but it involves a long drive and a lack of children.

JackieNo · 10/07/2006 11:18

How would you feel about someone giving away a gift you gave them? I know that I wouldn't mind too much, unless maybe it was something really personal that I'd made for them, like a photo album or something. Be happy that they like you enough to give you presents, but don't feel that you have to keep them. Pass them on to someone who will use/love them, and be happy that they're being used . This book is fab on stuff like that.

CaptainFlameSparrow · 10/07/2006 11:23

Good point. I just enjoy giving things, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if they weren't kept.
