Just got out my warmer coat in preparation for the older weather.

It is was white, sort of polyester, shower proof.

It is very grubby round the sleeves and alongside the zip, and on the pockets, and, well, everywhere really.

I tried washing it at 30 as per washing instructions. It remains just as grubby. I thought of soaking it in stain remover but it specifically says do not soak.

I am embarrassed to wear it. Is there some magic way of getting it clean, or do I look for a new coat (and make sure to buy a dark colour this time)?

It could be colour transfer, I suppose. But I think it is most likely ground-in grime from tube escalator handrails and things like that.

I suppose, yes, I should fling everything I have at it before giving up. And wash at 60 or something.

So annoyed about it, I can never find coats that cover my bum that still look vaguely shapely, and this one was perfect Sad

It would be expensive but could you get it dry cleaned ?
