I was looking at steam mops but there seem to be very mixed reviews and dh not keen re wood and water, but surely you have the same problem with a traditional mop and bucket

So, how am I going to keep my new wood floor clean?!

Hi Uppermid, I use HG Laminate spray (other makes are available) on my real wood floor which is modern flooring laid on top of the original boards and a Vileda telescopic microfiber 'mop'.

I use in accordance with the instructions which is to very slightly dampen the microfiber then spray the laminate cleaner onto the wooden floor (not too much as you do not want to soak the floor) and then mop it off.

My floor is made of smooth boards and it works well although it probably wouldn't work with a more traditional/original 'rough' wood floor as it would catch on the microfiber. You can also use it to spot clean with a normal cloth.

I bought my spray and mop from a local hardware store but I have seen similar products in Homebase.

Forgot to mention that the Vileda 'mop' is not the traditional type of mop. It is a flat rectangle with sloping sides which gives it points to get into the corners. The microfiber cloth is removable and can be machine washed.

We've bought one of these for our oak floor which we've been really happy with.
