Hello ladies, new to this fab board! May I ask a carpet question?

Wow, what a motivational board, I am loving it. I have spent the last two hrs cleaning and de cluttering having been mooching on here. Hubby will be delighted when he sees the mantelpiece aloneha ha. Anyway, may I ask about living room carpets. We are prob mad considering getting one laid as we have two small girls but really miss the cosiness of carpet. Plus rolling round on the oak floor is hardly comfy for them!
Anyway, if we were to take the plunge are there any in particular we should go for? Low maintenance, don't show the dirt hard wearing types?

Just thought I'd ask, all opinions welcome and appreciated.

Personally I'd go for a forgiving mushroom colour with small kidsWink

Yes thanks Valium cream is definitely out! Will be painting the walls grey so mushroom might work actually.

After having wool carpets I'd never spend that much again, they don't stay nice long enough and according to chatty carpet man in our local carpet shop they only last 3-5 years more than synthetic. I have carpet on my stairs and landing now which look like new still after 6 years-synthetic, you can scrub it and it's fine!

Ok great, did not know there was such a thing as synthetic carpet! Once it hides the dirt and has longevity that's my mean criteria. I am still probably mad laying it but the room is cold and bare and hard looking. Ta for your advice.

I'm not sure that's the correct term, by synthetic I just mean not wool.
