Ok so first of all I have to say I've been up since 3.30 and have watched various infomercial things. Luckily I'm not that zombies that I've actually bought one but they look pretty good, but are they?!

Not specifically the one on tv but in general. What to look for, what to avoid all that kind of stuff. Oris it all a big con?!

I have a Bissell lift off and I really love it! They do clean well and more importantly, they are really quick to use and the floor dries quickly so it kind of makes you want to clean the floor more, iyswim. When I had a mop and bucket I used to dread it and have to time it for when I had time to let the floor dry and nobody was around to walk on it. I have a dog now so it's invaluable for a quick steam most days Shock. Mine has lots of attachments too which aren't really necessary but I have used them to clean the windows and the oven on occasion. However, a basic steam cleaner would do the job. I used to have the Lakeland one and that was pretty good. HTH.

I have the Morphy Richards 2 in 1 and it's great. Floors are gleaming and it's brought the rugs and carpets up beautifully and freshened up curtains.

Can you use a steamer on wooden floors?

I have a Kärcher, which I was lucky enough to product test for MN Smile
it is great on all hard floors - we use ours on tile and laminate to no ill effect. however, I didn't find that all the twiddly crevicey attachments were good. the product test asked us to use it on oven hoods and in the bathroom, and I didn't find it that great for those tasks. so in essence if I was spending my own money I'd get a steam mop, but not a more expensive all-rounder.
