Just that, really! We got it with the house, it looks fairly new, Neff, doing an abysmal job of washing dishes. I can't help but think it must be salvageable. Any ideas? Thanks!

Look in the ends of the swirly arm things - at bottom of dishwasher and under the top rack - sometimes those holes get clogged up with food and crap. Turn it off at the wall and take out as much as you can from the bottom of it - should be removable filters etc and give them a good clean. Then reassemble and run the hottest programme you have with a proper dishwasher cleaner bottle in your cutlery holder. If its still crap time to call the professionals! Or buy a new one.

I agree. Remove and clean rotor arms and remove and clean the filter - filter is normally on the bottom of the machine and you should be able to unscrew and remove it to wash in the sink.

p.s. you should use dishwasher salt and rinse aid even if you use all in one tablets

yes, a common cause is food dirt in the filters. Take them out and clean them. There may be three, look in the instruction booklet. If lost, download from the makers website. Note the numbers on the top lip of the door which will include the model number and FD date. Write these down as they can get rubbed off with vigorous cleaning. Give the door seals a clean too, especially rhe bottom of the door.

If the previous owners habitually put very greasy pans in there, without wiping off, there may be a congealed fat blockage inside, which is diffficult to clear and will probably need a mender.

There should be no sign of lime scale inside. If there is, fill up the salt reservoir and the softened water will slowly wash it away.

Thanks everyone! I will do all that this weekend. Is there a best brand of dishwasher cleaner?

I just use own brand ones (when I remember!)
