Organising a chest freezer

I can't find whatever I'm looking for in the freezer. I have a large chest freezer with a couple of shallow baskets in it, but I need something else. What do you use?

The things I have in it are

  • plastic lidded boxes of servings of homemade soups, meatballs, pasta sauce etc.
  • loose bagged lamb & cow joints, chops, mince, sausages (fil a farmer)
  • bags of chips, garlic bread, pizza etc.frozen veg
  • individual chicken breasts, random steaks/ meat leftover from big packets
  • emergency winter stuff, few pints of milk, loaves of bread.

I use cardboard boxes (the kind at the end of the till at the supermarket, that previously held six bottles of wine. They stack.

This is exactly why we bought an upright! Sorry! But in practical terms, carboard boxes and a marker pen are cheap and cheerful, or bags for life for smaller quanities - use the same bag repeatedly for the same items?
