Steam mop for cleaning carpet

I've never used a steam mop before. Can anyone recommend me a good one to use on carpet? The house that we are moving into have dogs so I want to make sure the carpets are clean. How effective is a steam mop, would it get rid of dirt and bacteria on carpet?

I'd be interested to know this too. I've been thinking about getting one but don't want to add to my 'useless things in the cupboard under the stairs' collection. Smile

He too. I have an ancient VAX that is great for exercise but doesn't do a great job on cleaning carpets any more

HE? Ha you must be joking, "he" doesn't know what cleaning is. "Me too"

I think a carpet shampooer is better for what you need.

Then you can empty the tank of sucked up water into the sink, very satisfying!

hi, we had the same problem. Dr advised me to get a steam cleaner (dd developed asthma due to dogs and dust mites). a month on it is still an issue but much better.

I got the Murphy Richards 9 in 1 mop, our carpets look and smell much better. I'm impressed.
