White marks on dark clothes :\

We have a new washing machine and I'm noticing more and more white streaks appearing on my clothes, especially those which have a bit of elastane in them (vests, trousers etc) which look like washing powder residue. I've got a batch soaking in the bath now to try and get the marks out!

Any ideas how to stop this from happening? I already only use about 1/2 to 1/3 of the recommended powder, and wash my clothes on 40 degrees.

I only use liquid for colours and use powder for whites, because of the same problem

I could try using liquid, thanks :)

It's weird it's only just started happening in the last few weeks. It used to happen when I was a student because of the crappy washing machines there not rinsing properly...hope it's not happening again with this machine!

I have had the same problem with more than one machine. I have found that because new machines are so eco friendly now that they use so much less water to rinse. It is such a pain, I hate it.
